The prince
Glory before comfort
Prince Birger is a member of Roo's royal family, the son of King Erik and brother of Princess Frida. His defining personal drive is not administration, doctrine or the daily mechanics of rule. It is glory.
Birger wants to become famous. He wants to be remembered in sagas and spoken of as a great heroic figure. In a kingdom where old stories still shape how people understand courage, kingship and the past, that desire matters: Birger is not satisfied merely to stand close to history. He wants to enter it.
What Birger will ultimately do in pursuit of that glory remains unwritten. The record stops at his established motive.
A kingdom under pressure
History is arriving around him
Birger lives at a moment when Roo is changing quickly. Resgar Vasa's rebellion has destabilized royal authority. The seas that isolated Roo for centuries are navigable again, and a powerful fleet from Varren has arrived from the wider world.
Those pressures create the kind of moment in which reputations can be made — but the canon does not yet determine which choices Birger will make, what victories or failures he may face, or how history will remember him.
